Furnishing and Headwall Competitors
Compass is the furniture solution that incorporates the headwall and utility connections into the design. Tiles are modular, making the planning and design of utility connections and location flexible. The connection points happen between the architectural wall and the tiles.
The competitive landscape of patient room furnishings needs to be looked at in two ways. First, there is competition among furnishing manufacturers. These competitors include millworkers and prefabricated casegoods manufacturers. The furnishing competitors include Nurture and its Opus line and the DIRTT/wahu offering. Furnishing competitors may also play in clinical spaces beyond patient rooms, such as exam rooms.
Headwall competitors must also be evaluated. In many cases, Compass will be sold against applications that include custom millwork and headwall products. Headwall manufacturers include Amico, DIRTT (wall only), Hill-Rom, and Modular Services Company. Only Herman Miller's Compass system and DIRTT/wahu (wahucaseworks.com) offer functional headwall/footwall furnishing solutions. Hill-Rom, Amico, and Modular Services all claim to offer total room solutions, but the systems do not match up to breadth of Compass. Knowing a bit about the headwall competitors is important for positioning Compass as a total solution.
